I hand wash my Maltese, this way I avoid material damage. Mine is maybe 10 or 15 years old now and still holding up. Despite what they are built for, you do have to be delicate with it when caring for.

So I got to wear my "once-for-sale-not-sure-anymore-let-me-test-it-before" GT2 pro c/a yesterday during a drop-in practice. It felt bulky as I expected. Had serious issues trying to simply push my hair back to put on my mask. Even though my pants are XL, the c/a does take a lot of room in them. I also was annoyed that my mask would rub against the floaters whenever I looked down or around. Maybe I just need to make a few strapping adjustments and see.
I have to admit that arm mobility is pretty good and protection is quite good. I didn't take any bombs but I doubt there should be an issue. The bulkiness compared to my TGC P1 is quite noticeable. One or 2 more skates before I make my decision.

It finally happened! I stepped on the ice yesterday, at a rink, fully suited up for a drop in skate practice kinda thing cause we are not supposed to play organized hockey right now
HOLY PUCK am I not in playing condition! Never have I ever felt my age like I did for that 50 minute ice time. My legs were shot after 5 minutes. Had to take four 5 minute breaks just to get my energy back. I was the only goalie (no games remember?) and it was basically some run-and-gun type of drills and some shootout stuff. I didn't suck 100% but I didn't look like star material that's for sure.
One year absence can really kill your beer league career lollll. And I was testing my new blades and pads and c/a (more of that discussion in the appropriate threads). The worst part of the whole experience was the covid rules, driving back home all sweaty and smelly. My soreness this morning is prevalent but I got more pain from carrying my gear bag to and from than the actual ice experience itself.
Reconsidering my wheel bag next sessions.

The glove I received is a game ready but it’s still pretty stiff (think of it like a traditional game ready ccm). It’s labeled as a 590/60° style glove but feels very very different from its ccm counterparts. The ice time I got yesterday was in net against 14u aa kids and just about every shot to the palm was a stinger. However it is a terrific puck playing glove and not awful to catch with (so long as you get the puck in the pocket) even though I’m not really a fan of 590s. I’m waiting for supreme style or 580 jrz gloves to be released before I order.
Does it feel and catch like your Vapor glove? I never owned a CCM.

This looks kind of like the pre-Premier AB units by CCM as well. Since, thegoaliecrease.com use to mix and match the arms a bit more on their custom or "thegoaliecrease spec" units, perhaps something similar was done with the arms as well and these are either arms from a different (sized) unit or it has to also do with arms from the donor unit where longer to begin with. For example, I had no problem getting another R9000 slightly used for a backup, but likewise the arms of the XL one are too long for my liking, but the Large I bought new fits closer to perfect. The torso of both the XL and L on the stock units are the same, it's just longer arms in XL sized ones and the Large owners can also remove the belly extensions like with the R6000 model.
I am also curious whether you still work at Sportsmask after the acquisition.
The Bauer R9000 looked to be a very well balanced c/a, not too bulky. Wish I could try one on.

My used-but-for-a-season Reactor 6000s are still sitting at home waiting for a new owner to call. It's a very up/down market and unlike the housing market, you can't just go on the premise of "this is the current going price". People want a good deal and will (sometimes) expect things for cheap regardless. It's like a vehicle, depreciation is big even if barely used.
That's why I brought up the term "gem" in my initial comments above. It's a hit or miss market but if you can be patient enough, who knows.

All the bells and whistles aside, contrary to all the other Ritual models (G and GT), the G5 is the only one (that I'm aware of) that doesn't have a drop tab for either a traditional lace toe tie or bungee type set-up. Is it noticeable to the performance of the pad as in rotation or pad reset or ankle torque or all that stuff?

No clue. I’ve just always been thin and very low fat%
Careful with your words bud! There's a hoard of us older gents struggling with the "extra" who might get a little "feisty" on you ya know lollll

Some guys are already doing it on Facebook. I've flipped some old school rare gems in the past. If you find, refurbish and resell at a reasonable price, you can fetch some descent coin and feed the market need and wants.

Thyroid issue? It can affect your metabolism thus your low weight to height ratio. just a thought.

By far the weirdest team photos I’ve ever had for that reason! They wouldn’t let us take individual photos inside the rink
They could of at least put a team flag/tarp behind loll

I am as well. I also wear padded sleeves, and I've never had an issue with them sliding down my leg, which I attribute to everything I wear overtop them.
Maybe it's @SaveByRichter35 skinny twigz then

So I’ve been playing ball hockey with a group for about a year or so. Mostly as an out player. But I always bring my goalie gear in case I’m needed. I’ve probably played goalie a half dozen times over that span. Each time I play goalie, I experiment with what to wear (Or more importantly, what not to wear to increase breathability) and on how to play.
I’ve had mixed results. As an exclusively ice goalie for the last twenty years, playing ball hockey on a gymnasium floor isn’t fully translatable. I’ve been some sort of bizarre Hextall-Hasek-Brodeur-Fuhr mashup because the lack of sliding ability or being unable to kick out a leg once it’s down. I’ve been aggressive with depth. I do a lot if paddle down, poke checking, lunging, diving, rolling over, generally flailing.Since the pads I’m using are my ice pads, I don’t plan on altering them with anything to enable sliding. Therefore, what would be the best methodology for success? Mostly standup, with moderate depth? Hip-width stance with the expectation to make kick saves like Bill Ranford? Just keep experimenting and ad-libbing?
FWIW I am having fun, I’d just like to have a reliable system for success.
Picture included, because why not?
Nice touch with the pic ;D
Here is my take...remember when you played road hockey, in the fall before the snow dropped, you couldn't slide your feet or pads in anyway possible without ruining your gear, or clothes, or some skin in the process. THAT is how you have to approach your game in a gym environment, kinda like you pointed out already. If anything it helps you think more about your angles and depth, not to mention some sweet '80s highlights
Here are some tips I found out when I gave gym hockey a shot...wear wool socks over your shoes, the cheap grey work ones, helps with sliding your feet across and in split saves. Wear steel toe shoes or boots to avoid that painful toe shot or slash. Finally, get some shorter pads, 1"-2" shorter. Since they are resting on a lower surface than your skates, it makes them rise higher and becomes cumbersome, your mobility will be that much greater.
Have fun!

Noticed something in the Habs-Jets game Wednesday. I think Price was wearing True skates (which of course goes with the gloves and pads, so plausible).
For reference, his usual (CCM?) Graf cowling skates in Monday’s game:
And then in Wednesday’s game:
Or the best pics, but good enough to notice white/cowling to black/cowlingless
EDIT: Just found GGN posted about this (though did not at that point know he’d wear them in the game). Apparently he was wearing a True boot inside the cowling:
I did the same thing lolll. This would be his second try at True skates, the first time being with the 2 piece model. lets see how long it will last.

Either way I was always anxious to get that next shot and stop it. A coach sometimes leaves a guy in because he knows his compete level is there and what's going in isn't on him... or he has confidence in him to pull himself out. But in a shortened season like this... every game matters.
Also... on Gibson... and I can't say I've seen too many of his games... but it's a fine line to walk sometimes. You have to be mentally strong enough to shake off a goal (even a bad one)... stay even keeled. Process the play... think about what you could maybe have done differently... then move on. But when you do the same thing and your team just isn't winning... you get some people saying that it looks like you don't care. Maybe he's missing a bit of the spring in his step that he has when he's on fire... and you may be 100% right that he was just battling through some sort of strain that has now landed him on DTD status. Just not sure it's fair to say he looks like he doesn't care.
Sometimes the goalie isn't pulled as to not break his confidence (ironic as that might sound), especially if a veteran. Some goalies are of the sensitive type and they might read it as a personal critique rather than for the good of the team.

I've got Bauer Supreme knee guards, the ones with four segments, and I wear socks over those to keep the Velcro from catching on my pants or pads. Never had an issue with them sliding around.
@SaveByRichter35 is talking about under knee pads padded sleeves, like if you wore volleyball knee pads under the knee pads for added protection when dropping into the b-fly. I can understand his delima as the friction caused between both pads could be the problem.

I swear, if i had my own vehicle and Quebec didn't have a curfew, I'd probably be playing and coaching every night. Count yourselves lucky guys

Seb, why not make a short video showing exactly how to achieve this. I tried your Gen1 some years ago and I also found the shoulder wing to be very high at the time.
