I have a couple of new items.  A bucket list mask - A NOS Mike Richter Cubberly shell purchased from Ed directly and finished by Ray at New Image.  I'm going to wear it tonight.  And a Corey Crawford Kenesky chesty.

Saros, for sure is #1 and after him they should just sign Bones and get it over with.  You know him?  By far my favorite goalie Youtuber, other than Future Pro Goaltending, of course.  Kasimir is solid too.

Oh hey look at this :)

Saw it. Bonesy would have to start in their East Coast affiliate first to see how he can handle himself I'm guessing. As for Kas, he took a career decision for himself and his family. Signed in the SHL. Don't know if it's 1 or 2 seasons.

  3. Ok, who's working the front door? Didn't anyone card these kids?? @Chenner29 @ser33

I know how demanding just playing the position is, and it's even more apparent when you're playing with a bunch of benders. Seems so much easier when scrimmaging with higher levels. My trail running helps develop my cardio and legs, my bands/TRX help with the whole body maintenance. Eat a sound nutritional program adds a lot to the equation. Enough sleep, little stress (don't give a f%$k attitude, choose your battles) and a positive mental attitude - ALL of it has and continues to contribute to my keeping active, competitive and playing well on to my 60th birthday (8 years to go) at which point I will hang them up and put my focus on other passions.

Lets face it, we're like a bunch of old Chevys or Mopars that need constant maintenance to keep up with the young Subarus and Audis of the game ;)

The second picture is a Russian Spec unit.  That grey upper arm pad is part of the added padding, not stock.

I did notice in John's order form that you can choose either as an option as you go through the list of specs for all his units.

Just an update to my posts. I had Vaughn mod my chesty and add the 2nd shoulder cap. Used 6-7 times so far and not hit yet.

That is very similar to what Brown has always done to his chest pads, the added foam bar to cover the gap.

  6. Just to add to the my post, I just came back from PHL and tried on some 35" G4 Pros and here again, my knee lands about 2" from the top of the block edge. Is there a discrepancy between their models?

Side note: the G4 is lighter than the G5 despite the thinner thigh rise.

Side Side note: The Vaughn V8 catcher feels gooood :D. The Bauer 3X felt terrible on my hand.

  7. Wtf? Maybe @Kirk3190 can chime in here.

According to the Warrior suggested pad measurements, I'm a 35" or even 36".

I just got out of a shop and they only had 34" in the Senior GT. Tried them with my skates but no knee pads (at home drying) and not doing up the boot strap (it was too tight to achieve) and my knee fell just an inch or 2 from the top of the blocks.

How is that possible when my FKT is 20.5"?

IIRC the R9000 is a stiffer pad than the R6000

Try to curve the pad around the knee and work in the boot a little more.  You might be able to get the pad to drop

Also do you wear the inside elastic calf wrap velcro tight?  Loosen that.  And add more slack at the toe bridge so your skate has room to come back further

Already doing that. I do see the difference between the 6000 and the 9000. Despite the 6000 having the double break and being 36" (what I had and sold a while ago), these 9000 are 35", single break and I swear they almost feel as tall.

I've been trying to break down the boot but the foams are definitely stiffer in this model. Either I find a more modern pad to try or I mod the crap out of these to work, but then I might lose some resale value.

  9. If it's any conciliation, I'm using a fairly worn-in TGC spec RBK Premier and I do feel shots pretty much anywhere...and I'm playing so poorly right now compared to what I was before the pandemic that I'm really embarrassed about it. The team I got on is shit for defence in all ways imaginable and I have to step up my game to "super hero" mode if we want to win some before the real season starts in September.

  10. Well I wore my knee lock tighter tonight and STILL my knee tries to ride off the knee block. Tried to tighten my knee strap too before hitting the ice but it felt like it would mess with my rotation.

    I'm getting pissed man...

To tie in with that other thread that says it's not always the gear...well in this case, it\s ALLLLLL the pads fault -_-
