Scott-Matthauser pads are squealy as hell, even on a nice machined brake surface. Oh well. This problem will go away soon.

Voted by the nhl lol, voted #1 blah blah, damn you are delusional. The Habs SUCK, that contract also stop them from a rebuild.  Price couldn't beat the Wings 2 seasons ago where again, they finished 24th in the NHL, again, no playoffs the previous 2 years, you hearing this? They haven't made the playoffs in an 82 game season in how long? I been following the NHL for 28 years, my buddies don't like hockey, I live in reality unlike yourself. You still thinking of Price from 6-8 years ago, he's not IT anymore. Wake up.

Reviving this as I am interested in a JRZ set myself.

Can anyone compare the closure and feel with Brian's G-Netik IV/V? That's my primary reference point and I like the Brian's gloves.

The backhand protection appears to be on the bulky side (maybe not dissimilar from Warrior). Does that present any issues or make the glove feel cumbersome at all?

Appreciate any feedback you guys can provide!

Last time I tried a Brian's glove was the Airlite way back. I'm sure they've changed quite a bit since then.

The back hand gave me zero issues. In fact it was a good welcome for post hugging situations and when reaching into scrambles to freeze the puck. It looks bigger, yes, but felt no different than my Warrior GT. It's a dome like cover, not overly thick or bulky.

The ankle hinge dates back 50 years with Lange boots. Of course the straps across are an old idea.

None of us have a pair in front of them (that I know about), but I can think of distinct advantages:

    1) no more pulled eyelets from over-tightening in the heat form phase.

    2) more mobility in the ankle without sacrificing stiffness in the boot

    3) not having to punch for laces is a big time-saver for manufacturing.

The ankle hinge has appeared in Lange, Micron and Bauer boots over the last 50 years. There is a definite reason why it has appeared again: a distinct lack of ankle flexibility in the modern boot. It doesn’t look like we will have many leather boot choices in the future.

    The economy version. Remember these?

  5. What I saw against the Leafs tonight is a bunch of crap. Anything we had going up to the finals last season has gone and died. Some trades did not do us well in preserving a possible go at the cup again this season.

    Toronto played a solid game.

Montembeault held his own despite the loss. Shot differential between both teams was absurd.

Have you tried out a pro pack Passau? I like mine a lot. Very beefy and still retains a lot of mobility. Maybe my favorite chesty ever. If their shop is open, perhaps you can make a day of it to check it out?

Floaters ride too high for my liking. If the GT2 Pro was too beefy, I'm not so much interested in getting a similar bulky unit. I don't mind feeling the shots as long as I don't get an unnecessary injury. If they made a more streamlined floater, I would put them in the bucket list.

From what I hear the GT2 is bulkier and stiffer than the GT1.

I'm in a GT1 myself and the mobility is fantastic, but apparently that didn't transfer to the GT2.

My GT2 Pro was way too much for me. I'm eyeing quite a few other models/brands and I'm kind of thinking of adding the simple SR G5 to the list. It looks thick enough for any level of hockey under Pros and Major Juniors IMO.

  8. I'm just going to jump into the thick of things with the goalies.

So at the top we have Price, who is still unfit to play. We have Allen who is pushed into the #1 spot. Then, rising from the bottom (Rockets) we have Primeau, McNiven, Poulin, another cat I don't know and can't remember his name right now, and they just grabbed UFA Montombant from the Panthers.

Now I honestly don't see Poulin sticking around much in either teams. Can't speak for the "forgotten" one since I haven't seen him play. McNiven should IMO have a shot with the Habs for exposer and practice. Primeau is still their darling Price replacement project as I see it. Don't know where Montombant will fit in.

So when Price is finally clear to play, Jake will go back to his original role, but where does that leave the crop down in Laval? Has Montreal complicated things for the Rockets?

I’m not exactly new to this position. I know how to push off the post but since I do pad on post, having the pad stretch away from the post causes a lot of power loss vs having skate lace.

Yup because I use the toe box on the post rather than skate blade. Damn true two piece skates are actually tall enough that a puck can go under no problem with blade on post.

    As promised here’s some pictures
