  1. Reading this, I kind of went through a similar experience with pad sizing. I initially purchased some Bauer R6000 in 36". Loved them, except my knee would land off the block when scrambling or in hard stretches. I accounted this to the knee lock elastics. I sold them and got me some Bauer9000 in 35". The landing was more centred and better mobility but again my knee would hit the ice under the same scenarios. This time I was convinced it was the elastics not able to hold my weight in position or something of the sort. I tried to get some nylon straps made up to replace the elastics that would have no give and force my knee to stay in the cradle/on the landing without affecting the rotation. This is an idea I came up with while looking at and studying the Warrior pads. Long story short, I ended up selling my 9000s and buying my GT2 pads. My hypothesis was confirmed, never had the same issue happen since.

I did look into the professor strap for the same remedy but I was worried about it being a nuisance with my knee pads and thus proper rotation. Maybe I'm wrong, who knows.

That's too bad. I was debating on ordering a new beefed up Bauer since the pro return Pro I have is a medium body and it's a bit small. But I have felt nothing in the Pro and I wonder if the retail beefed up one's still aren't actually on par with what they are sending out to the pro players.

I'm one to believe that the actual Pro units are a cut above in protection compared to store bought ones, especially for beer leaguers and the likes. I remember my pro-return H5 had significantly thicker arm padding compared to anything I've worn over the decades. Brown units might be the only brand that equals without asking for the beefed up kit IMO. I had the JB503, zero issues I can think of.

Lol that mask is sick it was $5  when I got it probably 10 years ago and a friend of mine wrote Bauer sucks on it😂

As for the vocab I could start calling things fire and raw if you would like?

That won't be necessary thank you :)

  5. @A.YOUNGoalie13 First off, if that is you in the video, get a better mic system, it will help deliver your content more enjoyably. Second, if you're going to wear a mask to hide your identity, at least give it a paint job or wrap, make it interesting ;)

Other than that, you did a good job and kept the kid/teen vocab to a very acceptable minimum :D

I can sympathise with you. My team got creamed 11-3 yesterday. I was able to carry them to a first period ending score of 2-1 against, but in the second period, the other team got 5 goals. At least 2 were from uncontested chances in the slot.

I promise much MUCH better action once I heal from my work injury and get the green light to get back to training and playing ;)

It's a pain in the ass but need to start editing them videos. Another reason why I stopped, just too much time haha.

    Way to go though!

If I can learn how and with what, I conquer. The know how will surely help with the coaching aspect.

  8. Well, well, well...after nearly 2 decades of media platform anonymity, someone, unbeknown to me, was able to capture footage of me in the wild doing what I do best (or so I'd like to think lolll) and send me a copy from their Youtube page.

Now before some of you go on a dismemberment rampage of my game, I will start with my OWN dissection and ease you into it, thank you.

First off, consider the following: I'm 53, have had my playing time and general sports training/conditioning severely altered by the damn plague as most of you have unfortunately. My lack of physical fitness is MORE than apparent throughout the game. Getting up from the ice by using my stick rather than a straight pop-up or single leg piston squat is a clear indicator. The times I get up on the wrong leg is NOT from bad technique but mainly trying to save my sore knees and ankles from the obvious strain. My butterfly flare is practically non existent (even Giguere is giving me the WTF!? face). My pic and slides are weak and I open up every time in ALL holes. My follow through and tracking is sssss lllll ooooo wwww, and my recoveries are just so last week. Only things I can say that looked great is; 1- my stance looks spot on even though we can't see it from the front. 2- I'm square for the most part and my angles/depth are fairly accurate. 3- I got lucky on more than one occasion with my Hasek type saves.

To finish, I was trying to dial in my new chest pad that was annoying me at times, and I did lose 2 screws (literally, not from my brain) at the forehead holding the cage from the rocket at the hash marks (you can hear it well) but no damage to the user and dude was quite respectful in coming over to apologise and make sure I was ok.

    Without further ado:

70!?!   that is awesome and inspiring.  I am 55 and hoping to keep going til I am 60.  I've been playing for 25+ years and feel like my game is improving.  you just reset my target!

At 53, I'm aiming for 60 then, other than maybe still coaching, I'll be moving on to other things I enjoy like trail running and road cycling and hoops and martial arts and dancing and hitting the gym. Clearly I'm not short on choices. My GT2 set should keep me satisfied til then.

Wasn't referring to your looks, but the size of your dong

Gonna have to keep your fantasies for another thread ;)

I work with 2 handles. RichMan (here, GSBB GBBB and Canadian Goalies) was what a boss called me many decades ago whenever we crossed paths or met up. Rich, short for Richard and Man for, well, The Man of course. I liked it and kept it since.

My second handle used on media platforms is Istop Lapuck. It's clearly a play on words and actions. When we were kids, there was this thing where we would make up names that represented a person's job or trade or career, and most often it had a cultural and accent connotation added to it, be it Russian or Asian or Italian or French. Most of them are French based given I was born and raised in the Province of Quebec. Example: Yvan Compter (il v'en compte), Alain Shutt (elle a un lance), Ella Kawatch (elle est la qui regarde), Iwatch Itoo (il regarde aussi), Tow Wing (towing truck driver), etc. Mine, Istop Lapuck (said in French that kind of has a Russian feel to it) came to me some 25 years ago and I've used it around quite a bit. It's fun and does get a fun reaction from folks in the hockey world :D

    Thanks, fellas.

I look forward to any feedback Kirk may have. I'm not on this forum regularly, but I know he's one of the "go to" guys who has commented effectively in the past. 🙂

Yeah, he's their media/rep guy while Pete and the frenchie guy (forgot his name) are working on designs and specs. Kirk's been quiet lately. Hopefully all is good.

  12. I'm same height, add 10-15 lbs, broad and not so sure of the wingspan but, I had a Large GT2 Pro and it was ok. I'm sure you (we) could get away with an XL but it really depends on how you like to fit in your unit. Do you tuck or not? Are you long in the torso? Do you wanna look massive or be normal? All questions you can focus on to help make a decision. Try hitting up @Kirk3190, he can be of more help.

I've been wearing Large sizes pretty much all my adult life and just recently bought an XL unit and I think I chose the wrong size all those years. Depends on the model/brand as well.

I love my CCMAB18Pro, but have always been a bit worried about being able to find another one when the time came to replace.

ProSkateGoal Calgary posted they brought in stock of this makeup a few months ago.

Decided to give this a shot as a lot of the design choices on this unit appeal to me:

    • Some similarities to my CCM with how the elbows integrate into the arms, with the added benefit the Bauer scalloped elbow floater system.
    • Also nice they offer custom arm length and reinforcement options.

Looking back, I should have gotten more red and less blue but whatever

Review will come when I skate in it
